A creationist question:
WE SHARE 50 PERCENT OF OUR DNA WITH BANANAS BUT EVOLUTIONISTS SAY WE CAME FROM APES..WHOOPS!So let's clarify: having some DNA in common with a being most likely means that we have common ancestor. So having like 99.8% common with all humans (so we vary like 0.1%-0.3% between us) means that we have an ancestor closer than with chimps, where our common DNA is "just" 98.7%, with gorilla we are like 98.3% (yet we are closer to chimps than chimps are closer to gorilla), 97.9 % in common with Orangutan.
So does that mean we evolved from bananas?
If we can admit that if we are so similar (we are in 2 %) we "come" from apes (we have a common ancestor, an ape). We are like within 95% common DNA with mice, and we didn't come from mice, but we have a common ancestor (a placental mammal).
So by extension, what would mean that we have 20% common DNA with banana? (not 50%, as this source says: "Since then the comparison as a complete genome’s protein homology has us sharing 17% with Arabidopsis, 15% with rice, 11% with yeast, 2% with E. coli. " (source) )
That we have a far far apart ancestor, around 16 times at least as far apart than we have in common with the mouse, so maybe there is a self-dividing cell as a first common ancestor... doesn't sound plausible? As for evolution this is the conclusion and it makes sense, isn't it?
