Opinia teologiei moderne: evoluția și credința în Dumnezeu

The reality of God is not dependent upon whether you believe in creationism or whether you believe in evolution. That's a false dichotomy; that's a false trail completely. From a religious education point of view, I'd even be very careful Christina* about bringing creationism into that, except actually enabling people to have some understanding of biblical criticism, the origin of biblical books, how they came to be written and what they came to be written for. But . . . I don't even know why we're having this debate, because as I said earlier, it's almost like saying that the battle of Hastings took place in 1266. We know as far as we have as much detail that we are able to access, that the universe came into being about 13.7 billion years ago, we know that we have fossils that extend beyond 5 to 100,000 years ago, and it isn't just a matter that we descended from apes, it's a matter of how the whole evolutionary process has worked. Some of us would like to say that there is a god-dimension to that, which reflects the beauty of creation, and the beauty of science as well. 

Deci pe scurt (și pentru cei ce nu știu engleză) e că cel puțin realitatea de a accepta pe Dumnezeu nu este dependentă de creaționism și de asemeni, că acesta face un deserviciu asupra analizei critice a textului și în a infirma fapte ce sunt confirmate de alte dovezi.

Pentru cei ce cred că e doar un teolog rătăcit, sunt și filosofi ce acceptă evoluția fără nici o problemă:

Deci dacă auziți vreodată că sunt oameni ce nu-s creștini sau că e incompatibilă evoluția cu credința în Dumnezeu, trebuie să știți că sunt cel puțin unii creștini reprezentativi ce nu au problemă în evoluție. O mulțime!
